National Child Protection Week 2025 is a chance to come together and focus on what really matters: giving every child a fair go. This year’s National Child Protection Week, the team at Constable Care is committed to giving every child a fair go by providing safety education to help protect and empower young people across WA.
What Is National Child Protection Week?
National Child Protection Week is an annual campaign led by NAPCAN that aims to raise awareness around child safety and wellbeing across Australia. Held from 7th – 13th September 2025, it’s a time to remind communities, organisations, schools, and families of their shared responsibility to keep children safe from harm.
This year’s theme, “Every child in every community needs a fair go,” is a powerful call to action. It reminds us that child protection is not limited to one sector or one moment. It’s something that requires ongoing commitment, inclusive environments, and support systems that give every child a chance to grow, learn, and thrive.
Creating safe spaces for children means understanding their needs, listening to their voices, and equipping them with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and others. That’s where safety education plays a crucial role.
Education As A Tool For Protection And Empowerment
Children are naturally curious and eager to learn. When given the right tools, they can begin to understand their rights, recognise unsafe situations, and speak up when something doesn’t feel right. That’s why early education is one of the most effective ways to empower children and prevent harm before it happens.
From understanding safe and unsafe touch to knowing who to go to for help, these lessons can have a lifelong impact. Schools, parents, and community organisations all have a role to play in creating a network of safety around every child.
At Constable Care Foundation, we believe that health and safety education programs in schools are essential. When children learn in safe, supportive environments, they become more confident in navigating challenges, building resilience, and asking for help when needed. Constable Care Programs That Promote Safety, Respect, And Wellbeing
Our age-appropriate programs are designed to build children’s confidence, raise awareness, and teach practical safety skills. We reach students across Western Australia through engaging theatre-based performances, in-class sessions, and hands-on learning experiences.
For Primary Students
- Protective Behaviours Program: The Protective Behaviours Program teaches children how to recognise unsafe situations, understand their body’s warning signs, and speak up when something doesn’t feel right—all while building confidence and essential self-protection skills.
- Emergency Numbers: This program makes learning about emergencies accessible and easy to remember. It focuses on teaching kids emergency numbers, who to call, and what to say when they need help.
- Cyber Safety: With growing access to digital devices, our cyber safety for kids sessions focus on safe online behaviour, digital boundaries, and respectful interactions in online spaces.
- Cyber Bullying: Our anti cyberbullying programs help students understand how to handle online conflict, respond to unkind behaviour, and build digital resilience. These sessions also cover social media safety for kids, giving them the tools to interact respectfully online, set boundaries, and stay safe while using digital platforms.
For Secondary Students
Our high school programs focus on real-life topics relevant to teens, encouraging open discussion, critical thinking, and personal responsibility.
- Controlling Behaviours: A vital part of respectful relationships education, this program helps teens identify red flags in friendships and dating relationships and understand healthy boundaries.
- Bullying & Healthy Relationships: These anti bullying programs for high schools foster empathy, communication, and resilience. They equip students to stand up for others and navigate social dynamics respectfully.
- LGBTQI+ And Bullying: Our LGBTQ programs for youth encourage safety, identity, and self-expression. These workshops help young people understand gender diversity in schools and how to support their peers.
- Mental Health: Our mental health programs in schools and mental health programs for youth build emotional literacy, reduce stigma, and help students manage challenges. These evidence-based sessions are part of our commitment to improving mental health programs Perth students can access early on.

- Be positive role models: Children watch what we do as much as what we say. Showing respect, speaking kindly, and setting boundaries help model healthy behaviours.
- Engage with local programs: Community groups, parents, and educators can strengthen their impact by connecting with programs like ours that are designed to support prevention, empowerment, and real learning.
