Today’s youth face many challenges and pressures. Our engaging and interactive multimedia programs empower high school students to safely navigate and deal with social and mental health issues.
Our youth choice programs in Perth are designed to empower young people and address critical issues they face. Our programs tackle topics like mental health, substance abuse, bullying and cultural diversity. We use forum theatre to explore these topics, students become part of the performance and act out scenarios to develop solutions in a safe environment.
Our incursion Programs offer interactive sessions such as Broken, focusing on mental illness awareness and Control Freak, which explores unhealthy relationships. Programs like Standing Out support LGBTQI+ students facing bullying, while Overshare VR uses virtual reality to navigate online challenges.
Our Youth Choices programs move beyond the classroom to tackle the real-world pressures facing today’s teenagers. Using interactive theatre-in-education and digital media, we create a safe space for secondary students to explore complex social issues and practice making informed, positive life choices.
In the high-pressure world of secondary school, traditional ‘instruction’ rarely leads to behavioural change. Our Youth Choices suite uses ‘Forum Theatre’ – an evidence-based methodology where students become active participants in the narrative. By allowing teens to stop the action and trial different solutions to issues like consent, substance use, and mental health, we provide a rehearsal space for life. This ‘theatre of the oppressed’ style engagement is proven to increase retention and empower students to find their own voice.
We don’t shy away from the hard conversations. Our programs are developed in consultation with subject matter experts and Western Australian youth to ensure the scenarios reflect the actual lived experiences of today’s teenagers. Choosing Youth Choices means providing your school with a high-impact, peer-led experience that challenges prejudices, builds emotional intelligence, and equips young adults with the ethical framework to navigate adulthood safely.
