What is National Volunteer Week 2025?

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s annual celebration of the people who give their time to help others and strengthen our communities. In 2025, it runs from 19 – 25 May and serves as a reminder of the impact volunteers make every day – often behind the scenes – without expecting anything in return.

With a focus on “Connecting Communities,” this year’s theme celebrates the role of volunteers in bringing people closer together and strengthening local ties. From Safety School sessions to community performances, our volunteers help children and families feel more connected, informed and supported. These everyday interactions contribute to something bigger: a more inclusive and compassionate society.

How You Can Get Involved And Make An Impact

You don’t need special skills or qualifications to volunteer. You just need a willingness to help and a few spare hours. At Constable Care, there are several ways to get involved and contribute to safer, stronger communities.

Here are a few areas where we welcome volunteers:

• Safety School:  Help children experience real-life scenarios in a miniaturised city designed to teach road safety, pedestrian awareness and public transport etiquette.
• Events and Services:  Support our team at public events, lost child services or special campaigns. Volunteers help with audience engagement, raise awareness of our programs, and empower the community to utilise our services as needed
• Program Support:  Get involved with delivering key messages around safety education and wellbeing as part of our wider programs.

Volunteering is also an excellent way to gain hands-on experience and develop skills that carry into other areas of life. Many of our volunteers report improved confidence, stronger communication abilities and new career pathways after getting involved.
